Wow time goes by quick because it feels like I just ran this race, but here it is time to run it again. What I remember from this run is that NCSU centennial campus is rather hilly. Caroline ran this with me last year, but since she recently made the Carolina Roller Derby team, she will have practice at the same time as the race. I guess I’m on my own with this race.
This is the 8th annual House Your Neighbor 5K Race and Fun Run. The event is organized by North Carolina State University Habitat for Humanity and all proceeds from the race are donated to Habitat for Humanity to build homes for people in need in the US and the World. We are expecting 500 participants in this year’s event. Habifact: Habitat does not give homes away. Habitat homeowners make a down payment, contribute 300-500 hours of sweat equity, and make affordable mortgage payments.
OK, so I signed up for this marathon on November 4th 2007 and I can only hope that I am ready to run it by then. I am going to have a lot of work (running) to do to train for this. The Marathon is City Of Oaks Marathon which starts and ends in Raleigh NC.
The City of Oaks Marathon and Half Marathon marks the return of the marathon to Raleigh after a five year absence. The name refers to Raleigh’s historic distinction as the “City of Oaks,” with its abundance of oak trees and calls to mind the natural areas that abound within the metropolitan capital of North Carolina.
So for now I guess it’s off to some practice runs. . .
Man I am enjoying the warm weather. Last night I went out running and felt like I could go forever. It is so much better running outside than around the indoor track at NCSU. The track is so boring to me and it feels like the longest time just to get in a mile or two.
I just signed up for the Run for the Oaks in Raleigh on March 17th and I’m looking forward to this first race of the new year.
